Amethyst Mine is daily open from 1st of June until 31st of October. Opening hours are following, on May we are open for groups on request.
01.06. – 15.08.2013 from 11:00 am until 5:00 pm (last tour begins)
16.08. – 30.09.2013 from 11:00 am until 4:00 pm (last tour begins)
1.10. – 31.10 Tuesday – Saturday from 11:00 am until 3:00 pm (last tour begins, closed on Sundays and Mondays)
We start regular winter tours in December 2013, please check availability!
There are two presentations daily: at 12.00 and 2.00 pm. Guided presentations and tours are given in English and in Finnish. You can arrive to Amethyst Mine by travelling with special Amethyst Pendolino. Economic StandBy-departures from Ukko-Luoston parking lot (see map) daily at 11.30 and 1.30 pm.
Tickets for the Pendolino ride you can buy in advance from our E-SHOP or visit our Little Mine Shop in Luosto.
Tour include return transportation, warm beverage, presentation of this fascinating gem stone and digging own amethyst stone for everyone.

You can reach the mine also by walking along the service road (not skiing track), or by skiing and snowshoeing. Th local safari companies arrange tours by snowmobile to Amethyst Mine, check their weekly programs!

Amethyst Mine is located in national park and private motoring is not allowed. For walking you need approximately 45 min. from Ukko-Luosto parking lot.
